After the Bilderberg meeting and lobbying..the military trade between Turkey and Israel rose to 2, 7 billion in 2007.

Israeli weapons sales to Turkey are in the several billions since 1996, including modernization of U.S-made F-4 and F-5 jet fighters and co-production of air-to-ground missiles.

Israeli Air Force pilots reportedly flew Sri Lankan attack aircraft against Tamil targets on the Jaffna peninsula. Israeli military personnel were also reported to have taken part in Sri Lankan military attacks on Tamil units.

Israeli-Sri Lankan ties began to grow closer in the mid-1980s. Israel provided Sri Lanka with military advisers and established a special commando unit for the Sri Lankan police.

Israel continued to supply Sri Lanka with arms and military training. Under the table, Sri Lanka’s successive regimes embraced Israel’s military advisors, a special commando unit in the police, and Mossad counter-intelligence agents.

Israel sent Sri Lanka 16 of its supersonic Kfir fighter jets, some Dvora fast naval attack craft, and electronic and imagery surveillance equipment, plus advisors and technicians.

Israel personnel took part in military attacks on Tamil units, and its pilots flew attack aircraft.

Dutch businessman who sold chemicals to Saddam appeals war crimes conviction

April 2, 2007, THE HAGUE, Netherlands: A Dutch appeals court is to begin hearing the case Monday of a businessman convicted of war crimes for selling chemicals to Saddam Hussein that the Iraqi dictator used in the mass killings of Kurds.

Frans van Anraat, 64, was sentenced to 15 years in prison in December 2005 for selling tons of precursor chemicals that were made into mustard gas and nerve gas unleashed on Kurdish villages in northern Iraq in 1987-88.

Van Anraat said he didn't know the chemicals — some of which were purchased in the United States — could be used for anything but industry. But judges at the Hague District Court disagreed, ruling that Van Anraat attempted to conceal the transfers with a network of holding companies because he knew he was violating a U.S. export ban, and knew the chemicals would be used for killing.

They convicted him of "complicity in violating the rules of war," but acquitted him of complicity in genocide, finding that he didn't know specifically that the chemicals would be used against the Kurds.

Judges gave him the maximum sentence possible under Dutch law, saying he was driven by greed and showed no remorse.

Van Anraat is appealing his conviction, arguing he was unfairly singled out for prosecution. Prosecutors are appealing his genocide acquittal, arguing he continued seeking to sell chemicals to Iraq, even after hearing of the attack on the town of Halabja on March 16, 1988, in which around 5,000 Kurds were gassed to death using chemicals he supplied.

Hearings at the Hague Appeals Court run through the end of April, with a verdict likely in mid-May.

Van Anraat's case was the first Iraqi war crimes case to be heard anywhere when it began in 2005. Since then, trials at the Iraqi Special Tribunal have begun, including the ongoing prosecution of six of Saddam's senior officers for allegedly orchestrating the "al-Anfal Campaign" of attacks that killed an estimated 180,000 Kurds.

Though Van Anraat's lawyers initially argued that the Dutch criminal court had no jurisdiction to hear the case, they are unlikely to seek a change of venue to Iraq now. He faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison in the Netherlands if convicted of complicity in genocide.

Van Anraat operated from Switzerland and Italy in the 1980s, and was indicted by U.S. authorities for export violations in 1989. Italian authorities detained him, but a U.S. extradition request was denied by a judge who found the charges were politically motivated and ordered him released.

Van Anraat fled to Iraq before that decision was reversed on appeal and lived under Saddam's protection until the U.S.-led invasion of 2003.

The al-Anfal case has provided more details about Van Anraat's career, including a memo sent by special security forces to Saddam's presidential office. It showed Van Anraat was granted an Iraqi passport and the Arabic name "Faris Mansour" after marrying a Palestinian Muslim resident of Iraq.

The April 20, 1992 document states that the passport was a reward for his "valuable services," including providing "our institutions and the military industry with chemical and other rare materials."

Van Anraat was detained after Saddam's fall and interrogated by the CIA, but eventually was allowed to return to the Netherlands, since the statute of limitations on his U.S. export violations had expired.

But the Dutch government decided to prosecute him on the basis of the "Universal Jurisdiction" principle, which says all nations have a duty to prosecute war crimes that might otherwise go unpunished.

About Frans van Anraat

Frans Cornelis Adrianus van Anraat (born August 9, 1942 in Den Helder) is a Dutch businessman who sold raw materials for the production of chemical weapons to Iraq during the reign of Saddam Hussein.

During the 1970's Van Anraat worked at engineering companies in Italy, Switzerland and Singapore that were building chemical plants in Iraq. Having learned about the trade in chemicals, he founded his own company, "FCA Contractor", based in Bissone, Switzerland. From 1984 he supplied thousands of tons of chemicals to Iraq.

Among these chemicals were the essential raw materials for producing mustard gas and nerve gas. Both gases were used during the Iran-Iraq war between 1980-1988 as well as during an attack the military carried out on Iraqi Kurds in 1988, in which some 5,000 people were killed. This attack was part of the Al-Anfal campaign of the Iraqi regime against Kurds in the north of the country.

After his arrest and release in Italy in 1989, Van Anraat fled to Iraq, where he lived for the next 14 years. When Saddam's regime fell in 2003, Van Anraat returned to the Netherlands. He was arrested on December 6, 2004 for complicity to war crimes and genocide. On December 23, he was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for complicity to war crimes, but the court argued the charges of complicity to genocide could not be substantiated.

The public prosecutor appealed the verdict. This case is also notable, because it established that the chemical bombings in North Iraq constituted genocide according to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.

Soon after his arrest, Dutch newspapers reported that Van Anraat had been an informer of the Dutch secret service AIVD.

No judicial process has been launched into the inhumane treatment against Pozantı victim T.T. who was arrested once again after his release for telling about the sexual abuse and violence he had suffered in two prisons he was jailed in.

T.T. was jailed on March 7, accused of having taken part to an illegal demonstration after he told DİHA News Agency about the abuses he suffered in Pozantı and Kürkçüler prisons. DİHA journalist Özlem Ağuş who interviewed T.T. was also been arrested on the allegations of being member of an illegal organization and making propaganda of an illegal organization.

The boy who was arrested in 2008 for the first time for alleged membership of an illegal organization was subjected to violence by soldiers and wardens as well as sexual abuse by an ordinary prisoner in the prison. However, none of those involved in violence and abuse against the boy has been sued so far.

On the other hand, the prosecutor asked 26 years prison sentence for the boy who has been jailed in Adana Kürkçüler F Type Prison for the last five months.

T.T’s lawyer Tugay Bek pointed out that the criminal complaints of his client haven’t brought about any judicial process against perpetrators of violence and sexual abuse he suffered.

Telling about what happened when he was taken to Kürkçüler E-Type prison, T.T. said that they had been tortured and abused by soldiers soon after their delivery to prison.

“I was 16 years old. It was a rainy day when we were taken to the prison. We were made to undress in the prison garden which was full with water because of the rain. After looking at the accusation which claimed we were PKK members, the soldiers beat us for a long time. We were afterwards taken to the room of the commander and to a small cabin afterwards. We were made completely unclothed and harassed after that. We were delivered to guardians after the sexual harassment ended.”

Concern rises for Kurdish human rights activist in Iran

28 June 2012, Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand president of the Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan set to continue his hunger strike indefinitely. The Campaign in Support of Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand has rised concern for his health condition.

Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand, the founder and president of the Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan (HROK) and director of the banned weekly magazine, “Payame Mardom,” contacted family members and informed them that if the authorities of Islamic Republic of Iran would not grant him a temporary prison leave to treat his ill child, he would continue his hunger strike indefinitely.

Arrested in July 1st, 2007 due to human rights activities, Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand was kept in solitary confinement for more than 5 months in Evin Prison’s Sections 209 before being accused of “acting against national security through HROK,” and “widespread propaganda against the system by disseminating news,” “opposing Islamic penal laws by publicizing punishments such as stoning and executions,” and “advocating on behalf of political prisoners.”

He was convicted to more than 10 years in prison by “the Tehran Islamic Revolutionary Court.”

Due to the harsh conditions of prison and the many months of solitary confinement, the founder of the Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan (HROK) has suffered from heart diseases and a prostate disorder and according to his lawyers and wife he has had several heart attacks. His condition worsened to the point that in April 2008 he suffered a stroke and was taken to a specialist for treatment. Doctors declare that Kaboudvand must be treated immediately in a specialized hospital and heart surgery must be performed. Furthermore, doctors say that his prostate needs immediate attention and surgery.

Despite of the professional advice given to authorities of the Islamic Republic on this issue, they have not responded to the demands of his lawyer, family, or doctors. The Iranian authorities are deliberately neglecting the vital demands of Mr. Kaboudvand.

In this regard, the family of Kaboudvand, both directly and through his lawyer, has demanded a temporary prison leave for Mr. Kaboudvand from the Iranian authorities. However, these demands have been refused. According to a member of Kabudvand’s family, the authorities of Islamic Republic asked that in return for a temporary prison leave, Mr. Kaboudvand must ask for forgiveness from the “Supreme Leader of Iran.” Mr. Kaboudvand has declared that as he has not committed any crime, asking for forgiveness is illogical.

Mr. Kaboudvand’s son, Pejman, was admitted to the hospital in 2011 due to a currently unknown blood disorder. Since then, Mr. Kaboudvand has demanded that he be granted a temporary leave in order to help treat his son. This demand was not met until January 2012 when a hunger strike by Mr. Kaboudvand sparked considerable pressure from the international human rights community compelled Iranian authorities to grant him a very short leave to see his son.

As Pejman’s condition in the hospital worsened, Mr. Kaboudvand once again requested temporary prison leave. On May 26th, 2012 after his demands were once again refused, Mr. Kaboudvand declared hunger strike and emphasized that if his demands were not be met, he would continue his hunger strike indefinitely.

Imprisonment, physical and psychological torture, heart illness, prostate disorder, and a long hunger strike, have created a very dangerous situation for the health of the founder of the Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan (HROK). By continuing his hunger strike, another human tragedy is inevitable.

In this respect, the family of Kaboudvand and members of higher council of the Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan (HROK) have declared that they too would launch a hunger strike from Wednesday June 20th, 2012 in support of Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand if his demands are not accepted.

The founder of the Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan (HROK), a Nobel Peace prize candidate in 2011, and recipient of numerous international awards for human rights and journalism, is not the only ill prisoner in the prisons of Iran.

Lack of medical treatment, torture, and neglects have caused death and disability among countless prisoners.

The campaign to support Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand expressed its serious concern that Iranian intelligence and prison authorities are systematically denying proper medical care to prisoners of conscience, resulting in severe complications and even deaths.

Only within spring of this past year, four Kurdish prisoners have died in the prisons of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In this month alone, we can indicate the death of Mr. Mansur Radpour and Mahdi Zaliyeh.

Unfortunately, said the Campaign, the general neglect of prisoners’ rights and particularly the lack of medical treatment in prisons of Islamic Republic have been implemented as torture methods to pressure political prisoners to express regret and forgiveness for their alleged “crimes” and their international rights as prisoners.

Members of the campaign to support Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand, believe that all the activities of Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand have been a part of activities by every human rights defender for the purpose of teaching and promoting human rights and documenting human rights violations in Kurdish region.

Therefore, this campaign not only considers his imprisonment illegal, but also, believes Iran as one of the parties of The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), have obligation to protect the life of prisoners.

The members of the Campaign in support of Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand argue that the activities for which Mr. Kaboudvand has been arrested – education and documentation of human rights violations in the Kurdish area, are necessities of human rights activism.

We strongly condemn the illegal acts and inhumanity of Iranian authorities regarding Mr. Kaboudvand’s situation. Therefore, this campaign not only condemns all imprisonment of peaceful human rights activism, but as nation which has signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Iran must be held accountable and is responsible for the health and safety of Mr. Kaboudvand and their other prisoners.

The Campaign in support of Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand strongly condemns the Islamic Republic’s abuse of Mr. Kaboudvand’s situation, and the rejection of his demands as physical and psychological torture.

The Campaign in support of Mohammad Sedigh Kaboudvand would like to make an appeal to all individuals, groups, and human rights organizations across the world to condemn the condition that Iran has put the founder of the Human Rights Organization of Kurdistan (HROK) in, and to demand that Iran release all political prisoners.

LA TIMES: Michael Rubin, Turkey, the PKK and Lies for AEI and Exxon Blood Money

Michael Rubin, Turkey, the PKK and Lies for... American Enterprise Institute and Exxon Mobil Money.

As Elena Kagan in the United States Supreme Court, has held that the First Amendment permits Congress to make pure speech advocating lawful, activity-human rights advocacy and peacemaking - a crime. And there are "tensions between Turkey and KRG."

At the same time US troops, Iraqis are attacked and committed genocide on, the whole Kurdish policital sphere committed politicide on, human rights defenders jailed and has 20 years of documentation confiscated, Leyla Zana, awarded the Andrei Sakharov prize for human rights, is sentenced to 10 years in prison among thousands mass jailed in Turkey. While people are tortured and hanged in the thousands in Iran, forests, whole Kurdistan burnt down, villagers bombed and displaced, Kurds exterminated at the borders.

WHOLE PEOPLES ETHINCALLY CLEANED, COMMITTED GENOCIDE ON, EXTERMINATED ALL OVER THE REGION IN THE WORKS FOR A #¤#¤¤ CENTURY!

Disturbing Pictures of Kurdish Fighters Killed by Chemical Weapons of Turkish Army. Graphic: http://bit.ly/c2UxIs

"As the region celebrates the arrival of ExxonMobil."

Michael Rubin, Paul Wolfowitz and the Exxon Mobil sponsored 'think tank', American Enterprise Institute, are on a political and psychological mission. To lie and misrepresent the truth to convince the world that it would be a good idea for the US to forget about its so called 'liberation' of the Kurds, and to pursue instead, an even closer relationship with Turkey.

Turkey, AEI, and Lies to steal your money, rape your country, and kill your children...

Well, not so much a mission to persuade the US, because they are already up to their necks in Kurdish blood, but really to get the idea of betraying the Kurds once again accepted by the International community. To fool, lie and misrepresent the truth so as a favourable situation will arise in regards the exploitation of oil for US multi national oil companies can come about.

It is not the first time that Rubin has lied for Turkey's Military Generals. Because the US military has supported the Turkish regime for decades and Turkey has been the second biggest, next to Israel, recipient of US arms and aid.

One of the biggest arms deals in history being secured by the director of Lockheed Martin, Joseph Ralston, when he was sent to Turkey by George Bush, last year under the pretence of being a 'Special Envoy'. It has supported Turkey by giving military and psychological warfare training to the Turkish military. It has supported Turkey by spinning the lies of the Turkish Generals.

The Ultra nationalist right wing military junta is being supported, economically, militarily and politically by the US. The US legal system has imposed the most severe gagging order in legal history on Sibel Edmonds, an ex CIA translator who knows of the dirty links between Turkey and the US Neo Cons.

When Turkey had refused entry to Iraq it was the Kurds who fought and died side by side with US marines to overthrow Saddam Hussain, who was responsible for an attempted genocide of the Kurdish people. Now the US are providing 'intelligence' to Turkey who is also responsible for an attempted genocide of the Kurds.

Just think, one year ago, one would of said that sort of change of policy was unimaginable but if you have, like I and others, been following the likes of Michael Rubin and other Neo Conservatives close to George Bush and the Turkish Deep State then it would come as no surprise whatsoever.

Turkey has been supported primarily by the US, UK, Germany and Israel in barbaric suppression of the Kurds, that Michael Rubin completely ignores in his so called analysis, preferring to promote the Turkish Generals lies about the 30,000 deaths being the result of PKK actions rather than the truth that is recognised by all international human rights organisations, that the majority of that 30,000 figure has been Kurdish civilians killed in Turkey's scorched earth policy of 'draining the sea to catch the fish' policy.

Razing and levelling over 4,000 KurdishCities, towns, villages and hamlets in the nineties creating over 1 million internal homeless Kurdish refugees. The Turkish military marching and driving into cities, villages, towns and hamlets and shooting indiscriminately, rounding up all the males and imprisoning without trial and then torturing them.

Raping Kurdish women in front of their children. Getting women to put rope around the genitals of Kurdish men and to force them to lead the men around the town or village in tactics only seen in Nazi Germany during the holocaust.

The 'trophies' of ears collected by the Turkish special teams after they destroyed and killed Kurdish villagers or political activists and dried out in the sun and placed on their keys rings.

The rewards offered to Kurdish Village Guards for the heads of Kurdish Freedom Fighters. Indeed the photos that Turkish soldiers regularly took of Kurdish Freedom Fighters when they had killed them. Decapitated heads held proudly out in the air for they were proud of what they did.

Groups of soldiers huddled around the naked mutilated body of a women guerrilla fighter all of them grinning with pin point eyes, dehumanised in one of the dirtiest wars in history against an oppressed and subjugated people.

The international community supported the Turkish Generals then to their shame. Lies put out by the likes of Michael Rubin and Exxon Mobil sponsored American Enterprise Institute. Lies that are designed to mask the truth and label the oppressed as 'terrorists'.

As happened to the Jews in Nazi Germany. As happened to the Black Resistance in Apartheid South Africa. As happened to the Irish during English colonial rule.
The US have supported Turkey in its dirty war against the Kurds for decades but has lead nowhere. Hence the actions of the Turkish Generals in manufacturing the latest incidents at Beytussebap and elsewhere, that lead to the US supported bombing of Kurdish civilians in Kurdistan.

The truth is that the Kurdish Freedom Movement has fought against a barbaric oppressor who has been supported by all the main colonial powers for decades, in fact since the establishment of the modern Turkish state.

It has fought back in a way that is deserving of a Steven Spielberg epic entitled, "The Kurds and Their Freedom Struggle for Survival" at immense sacrifice that could not be possibly even be imagined here.

So, it is not time for anyone to listen to the ratlike lies and dishonorable words of people such as Michael Rubin who are motivated to lie for others for financial incentives, nor the intensified efforts of the Turkish Generals to label the Kurdish Freedom Movement as 'criminals and terrorists', but rather it is time for the 'international community' to 'right a wrong' and to put intensive political pressure on the Turkish regime to finally come to a peaceful and political settlement with the Kurdish people, so that the whole area can move forward and after a process of reconciliation, enjoy the same freedoms that everyone else expects.

The world needs to know the truth about Turkey's suppression of the Kurds not more Nazi propagandist, Goebbels style, psychological lies!

25th anniversary of the chemical attack on Serdesht city

28 June 2012, SERDESHT, -- This is the 25th anniversary of the chemical attack on Serdesht city which led to the death of an estimated 8000 lives while effected the lives of many more.
Serdesht is a city in East Kurdistan which was poison attacked by the Iraqi warplanes in 1987. Within the attack four major spots including two villages were poison-gassed which resulted in heavy civilian casualties including women and children.

People around the bombarded area rushed to help the victims as they assumed it was a normal bomb attack, but while they were approaching the area their bodies started to itch and their eyes swollen while water running from their noses and mouths. Then they realised that their city had been attacked by chemical weapon. Many of those who tried to help the victims lost their lives.

In the second day of the chemical attack hundreds of more people were killed and injured. Many victims send to Mahabad and Urmiye city hospitals.

It is not known how many people exactly lost their lives in this brutal attack by Saddam Husen but it was predicted that as many as 8000 people were killed.

A day after Serdesht attack, Helebce city in South Kurdistan was gassed by the former Iraqi regime which led to death of 5000 civilian Kurds. The tragedies of Serdesht and Helebce are only a tip of ice-burg of what had happened to the Kurds by the regional colonialism.

Iran: Executions are taking place after unfair trials and without due process.

Prisoners are being convicted based on what are being described as "coerced confessions." Those on death row often have no access to their lawyers and little contact with the outside world, including with their families.

Hadi Ghaemi, director of the New York-based International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran says issuing and carrying out death sentences is now a state policy in Iran, prompting some bloggers to refer to the country as the "Republic of Executions."

Iran's chief prosecutor, Mohseni Ejei, "has a very prominent role" in the surge in executions, Ghaemi believes. "He played an important role in the mass executions that were carried out in the 1980s." "He has once again turned that policy into the policy of the establishment. The executions are being carried out with his approval."

In the 80s Amnesty International received reports of hundreds of executions of Kurdish prisoners in Urmiye Prison, and of 50 being executed in Sanandaj.

Secret executions of political prisoners have also been reported. Following the assassination in July 1989 of the leader of the KDPI, Abdul Rahman Ghassemlou, executions is reported to have been stepped up in Iranian Kurdistan. The authorities are reported to have executing Kurdish prisoners in Sanandaj and Urmiye Prisons.

Relatives of prisoners executed in Urmiye Prison in Iranian Kurdistan have described to Amnesty International a form they had to sign when they were summoned to the prison to collect their relatives' belongings. The form was an undertaking that they would not hold any form of funeral ceremony or erect any memorial on the graves.

Amnesty International has received accounts of similar events in many different prisons in all parts of Iran: in Rasht, Sanandaj, Mashhad, Isfahan and elsewhere. This suggests to Amnesty International that the massacre of political prisoners was a premeditated and coordinated policy that must have been authorized at the highest level of government.

Regime Returns to Execution Policy.

Providing details about the executions, journalist Khosrow Kordpour tells Rooz: “We were told by reliable sources about the recent executions in Urumiya and Miandoab. The Miandoab executions were even confirmed by official sources."

"The executed individuals were Kurdish residences from the providence of Western Azarbaijan. We can’t make a final determination about their charges, but as the judiciary’s officials have claimed in the Miandoab cases, the charges were largely related to drug trafficking.”

Kordpour adds, “This is not the first time that we are told about mass executions. We have revealed other cases of execution in Azarbaijan, especially at the Urumiya prison.” He says, “In some specific cases the lawyers informed us that they had no information about the time and manner of the execution, although in other cases the lawyers were present at the scene.”

It was previously reported that 9 individuals were hanged in Khuzistan on charges such as “murdering police officers” and “committing crimes against public morality.”

Some political analysts and human rights activists have noted that the new wave of executions are similar to the widespread executions carried out in the 1980s.

The Israeli air force regularly trains over Turkish airspace

Turkey traditionally held the Anatolian Eagle exercises in the Central Anatolian province of Konya with two regular guests: the U.S. and Israeli air forces. The Israeli air force regularly trains over Turkish airspace, and Israeli and Turkish intelligence services share information about military developments.

The U.S. government, the White House, the State and Defence departments, has acted as a giant Turkish lobby for the past 50 years.

Organisations as playing an increasingly active role in the advocacy of Turkish positions on many issues in the United States:

The American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress, the Anti-Defamation League, B'nai B'rith, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organisations, and the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs.

Both Jacobs and Mariaschin travelled to Istanbul and Ankara to explain "the unique role their organisations can play in the lobbying process in the United States."

Jacobs pledges that Jewish organisations will "take an active and vigorous role in being friends of Turkey in the United States. We will champion to the best of our ability Turkish interests in the U.S. Congress. We will be Turkey's friends officially in Congress and work to help get favourable legislation passed."

Jacobs makes the following declaration: "We want to work with your Embassy in Washington, the Turkish-American community and Turkey's many friends and win our battles on Capitol Hill. We want the American people and our leaders to understand what Turkey and its citizens have accomplished."

And further states that: "We want our media to accurately reflect Turkey's importance and achievements. We don't want those who are not friends of Turkey to have the means to use human rights or other issues against your interests."

Israeli Air Force pilots reportedly flew Sri Lankan attack aircraft against Tamil Tiger targets on the Jaffna peninsula.

Israeli weapons sales to Turkey have amounted to $3 billion since 1996, including modernization of U.S-made F-4 and F-5 jet fighters and co-production of air-to-ground missiles.

In a statement and pointing to the disaster that is currently happening in Kurdistan the Assembly of Green Mountain said, “From the mountain we appeal to the ethical and awakened conscience mind of the world, we want to highlight that thousand hectors of land and forests in Meriwan region in eastern Kurdistan are burning”.

The statement point also to the extinction of thousand of small and big species, hundred types of trees and grasses are burning every minute.

“We urgently appeal to your help, this is an unethical and inhumane atrocity; this is a historical atrocity to the nature, which we all as human beings are responsible to stop it. This tragedy will have impact on all humans’ beings; it will be a black spot in human-kind history.”

The statement goes on by adding “Our low voices are not reaching to the international public. We urge people not to be silent in the face of such a crime and show their responsibility: not to standby and stop the extinction of our forests, our country is torn by wars. Country of smoke! Country of razed to the ground, ruins country of ashes. Please raise your voice and support our voice, we can make different together!

“We are as the Assembly of Green Mountains in Meriwan, declaring that, we don’t have power and we are helpless regarding this atrocity. The mother nature of earth is our first and the last shelters to our life. We demand you; we don’t want to see anymore that we are burning our cradle by our own hands.”

The following is the statistics of forest burning in Meriwan and Sro Abad in 2011, which are recorded by the Assembly of Green Mountain.

Forest around Chawg village, 2Km north of Meriwan, 4 hectares of land burned on 18/06/2011.

The local people have seen in various instances that the Turkish and Iranian army set fire on the forests in Kurdistan. This is one of the most inhuman acts of the occupying powers of Kurdistan, setting fire and destroying the nature of Kurdistan.

This is against the rule and ethic of war. They regard the Kurdish legitimate struggle for democracy and freedom and ‘terrorism’, but this is them, who are terrorists.

Setting fires on the forests of Kurdistan is purely the act of terrorism, intimating and terrorising the local Kurds and destroying the jungles and the species of the forests. The occupying powers of Kurdistan must strop restoring to such acts of terrorism now! Such acts would not deter the Kurds from pursuing their demands for freedom and liberty but they would only generate hatred among the Kurds toward the occupiers.

The spread fire over the forests of East Kurdistan had destroyed over 7 hectares of lands in between Sine province and Seqiz district, report said.

Not only the Iranian authorities have not made the slightest effort to put out the inferno, but the eyes witnesses claim that they have seen the Iranian Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) setting fire on the forests and jungles of those regions.

It seems that even the Kurdish national lives and the wild forests can not escape the state terror of Islamic Republic of Iran.

The occupying powers of Kurdistan have employed all kinds of inhuman methods to destroy the Kurdish life and strip them of their identity, history and the cultural heritage.

According to Mukrian News Agency the fire spread over the jungles of Fitile village located between Sine and Seqiz cities, destroyed over 7 hectares of lands and inflicted a huge level of injuries to the natural and the vegetation life of the region.

Members of the PKK have been designated narcotics traffickers by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The PKK was designated as a significant foreign narcotics trafficker by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

On October 14, 2009, the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) targeted the senior leadership of the PKK, designating as significant foreign narcotics traffickers, Murat Karayilan, the head of the PKK, and high-ranking members Ali Riza Altun and Zubayir Aydar.

On April 20, 2011, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the designation of PKK founders Cemil Bayik and Duran Kalkan and other high-ranking members as Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers (SDNT) pursuant to the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act (Kingpin Act). Pursuant to the Kingpin Act, the designation freezes any assets the designees may have under U.S. jurisdiction and prohibits U.S. persons from conducting financial or commercial transactions with these individuals..

Why Is The Number Of Wildfires In The United States Increasing?

As America watches large sections of Colorado literally burn to the ground, many are wondering why all of this is happening. There have always been wildfires, but what we are experiencing now seems very unusual.

2011 was a record setting year for wildfires and this wildfire season is off to a very frightening start. Right now the eyes of the nation are focused on the Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado. It doubled in size overnight and it has consumed more than 300 homes so far. It is threatening the city of Colorado Springs, and at this point more than 35,000 people have been forced to evacuate – including the U.S. Air Force Academy.

On Twitter and Facebook residents are describing what they are seeing as “the apocalypse” and as “the end of the world”.

The Waldo Canyon fire is rapidly becoming one of the most expensive and destructive wildfires in Colorado history. The historic Flying W Ranch has already been burned totally to the ground by this fire.

Lockheed Martin, Joseph Ralston and the PKK

KurdishMedia. 04/10/2006 - Last Friday there appeared a small article in the Dallas-Fort Worth Star-Telegram announcing the pending sale of 30 new F-16 fighters to Turkey. According to the article, the Pentagon had already notified Congress of the deal and if there are no congressional objections in 15 days, the sale will be approved automatically.

Lockheed Martin, the world's largest arms manufacturer, will produce the fighter jets, but other members of the American defense contractor's establishment will also stand to gain in the deal, with General Electric, Boeing, L-3 Communications Holdings, Raytheon, and BAE Systems contributing to the production, according to Market Watch.

"'This proposed sale will enhance the Turkish Air Force's ability to defend Turkey while patrolling the nation's extensive coastline and borders against future threats and to contribute to the Global War on Terrorism and NATO operations,' the U.S. defense agency said.

The question that should concern Kurds is how this contribution to the “Global War on Terror” will affect the recent PKK ceasefire.

It is widely known that the Turkish military has used Lockheed Martin F-16's to assist with the obliteration of Kurdish villages in North Kurdistan during the 1990's Dirty War, with the facts well-documented by human rights groups.

In 1995, Human Right Watch documented arms sales to Turkey, along with related violations of the laws of war by that state. Included among the many gross abuses that Turkey has perpetrated against the Kurdish people, the F-16 fighter jet figures prominently. In spite of the fact that the US State Department issued its first human rights report on Turkey in 1995, US officials in Ankara remained eager to sell more of their deadly toys:

"Despite documenting the fact that Turkey has misused U.S. weapons, the Clinton administration, which says it supplies Turkey with 80 percent of its foreign military hardware, has consistently refused to link arms sales to improvements in Turkey's human rights record."

Shortly after publication of the June 1995 State Department report, the U.S.'s top military officer, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Shalikashvili, wrote a letter to the U.S. Congress urging U.S. lawmakers not to cut military assistance to Turkey because of its human rights record.

In fact, based on Human Rights Watch interviews with U.S. military personnel, it appears that Pentagon representatives in Ankara are more eager than ever to sell Turkey U.S. weapons, including M-60 tanks, helicopter gunships, cluster bombs, ground-to-ground missiles and small arms.

The U.S. is also involved in co-production agreements with the Turkish defense industry, most notably helping to build the F-16 fighter-bomber, which the U.S. State Department acknowledged may have been used indiscriminately to kill Kurdish civilians, and a new armored personnel carrier.
Moreover, Turkey was not content to keep its use of the F-16, or other aircraft, within its own borders. During Operation Northern Watch, the Turkish military routinely bombed Kurdish civilians in South Kurdistan, in attempts to obliterate those villages that Saddam had never gotten around to destroying:

In 1995 and 1997, as many as 50,000 Turkish troops, backed by tanks and fighter aircraft, occupied what the West called 'Kurdish safe havens'.

They terrorised Kurdish villages and murdered civilians. In December 2000, they were back, committing the atrocities that the Turkish military commits with immunity against its own Kurdish population.

For joining the US "coalition" against Iraq, the Turkish regime is to be rewarded with a bribe worth $6billion. Turkey's invasions are rarely reported in Britain. So great is the collusion of the Blair government that, virtually unknown to Parliament and the British public, the RAF and the Americans have, from time to time, deliberately suspended their "humanitarian" patrols to allow the Turks to get on with killing Kurds in Iraq.

The PKK's most recent unilateral ceasefire 5 went into effect on Sunday, and it still remains unilateral. The entire Turkish establishment, from Buyukanit to Erdogan have rejected it, while clearly stating their determination to continue the war.

This is in spite of the fact that the PKK perfers to negotiate a political settlement and indicated their willingness to do so in August, with demands that are fully consistent with EU accession criteria.

The rejection of a political settlement was echoed by the US PKK coordinator, Joseph Ralston, in Ankara:

Days before the declaration of the truce, the United States publicly said that "a PKK cease-fire would have little value and that the terrorist group instead should lay down its arms and renounce violence. 'Cease-fire sort of implies an act that is taken between two states, two actors, to do that. "
"And I don't want to confer that kind of status on the PKK by saying a cease-fire,' Joseph Ralston, the newly appointed U.S. special envoy for countering the PKK," said here last Wednesday.

What is most interesting about former USAF General Joseph Ralston are not the words he speaks or what is reported about him in the press as Washington's PKK coordinator. The most interesting thing about Joseph Ralston is that he is a member of the Board of Directors of Lockheed Martin, the same corporation whose deal for the sale of 30 F-16's sits in the venerable halls of Congress at this very moment.

What, then, is Joseph Ralston really coordinating in Ankara? What are the intentions of the American administration that appointed Ralston to his new post? It is difficult to believe that the American administration was unaware of the conflict of interest that the appointment of a board member of Lockheed Martin would create, in a matter that has resulted in some 40,000 Kurdish dead.

Such a conflict of interest can only be described as obscene.

The conflict of interest becomes more obscene by the fact that both Joseph Ralston and Lockheed Martin are closely tied to the Turkish lobby organization, the American Turkish Council (ATC). Joseph Ralston is a member of the 2006 ATC Advisory Board,10 while a former Lockheed Martin executive, George Perlman, is a member of the 2006 ATC Officers and Board of Directors.

Lockheed Martin Corporation is a Golden Horn member of the ATC, as is General Electric Company, Boeing Corporation, Raytheon, and BAE Systems, all of which stand to profit from the current sale.

This conflict of interest makes it clear that neither the US nor Turkey has the intention of finding a just and peaceful solution to the great opportunity the PKK ceasefire affords them. On the contrary, both countries seek a return to the Dirty War, in order to reap the profits of repression.

2008-04-04 Noam Neusner Turkey Email EU Ruling on PKK issue, Various Jewish leaders

In 2007, military trade between Turkey and Israel rose to $2.7 billion

Noam Neusner, former liaison to the Jewish community from the Bush White House, was hired by Turkey “to promote strong ties with major Jewish groups and to urge these groups to oppose House Resolution 106, which would have labeled the Armenian genocide.”

Filings under the Foreign Agents Registration Act reveal that Neusner’s firm communicated heavily with most major Jewish organizations during the Congressional debate on the resolution; groups contacted included the Anti-Defamation League, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, B’nai B’rith International, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs, the American Jewish Congress, and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.

American Jewish Committee Director of Strategic Studies Barry Jacobs is retiring, according to Harut Sassounian in an article published in AZG. Jacobs, according to Sassounian, "has been at the forefront of AJC's attempts over the years to undermine the adoption of various congressional resolutions on the Armenian Genocide."

On February 21, Jacobs declared, "The position of all the Jewish organizations, including ADL, was not to have a position on the facts of what happened, or not taking a public position on what happened in 1915, we did not think, do not think, that the United States Congress is the place to settle this."

In 1999, Jacobs told the Turkish Daily News that "We will champion to the best of our ability Turkish interests in the U.S. Congress. We don't want those who are not friends of Turkey to have the means to use human rights or other issues against your interests."

Representatives of the Jewish lobby made a public pledge to do everything in their power to help enact pro-Azeri and pro-Turkish legislation and counter Armenian and Greek initiatives in the U.S. Congress. This chilling disclosure was printed in the Turkish Daily News. Reporter Yasemin Dobra-Manco wrote a lengthy two-part article after speaking with Barry Jacobs, the assistant director of the American Jewish Committee and Daniel Mariaschin, the director of the B'nai B'rith International Center for Public Policy.

The article lists the following organisations as playing "an increasingly active role in the advocacy of Turkish positions on many issues in the United States: The American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress, the Anti-Defamation League, B'nai B'rith, the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organisations, and the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs."

Both Jacobs and Mariaschin travelled to Istanbul and Ankara to explain "the unique role their organisations can play in the lobbying process in the United States."

Jacobs and a Jewish-American delegation also visited Armenia and Karabagh, in addition to Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkey. They had made a firm decision to support the Turks and the Azeris long before their "fact-finding" trip.

Mariaschin discloses that "Jewish groups are now addressing an expanded agenda of issues," including support for the Baku - Ceyhan pipeline.

In Part II of the article, Jacobs pledges that Jewish organisations will "take an active and vigorous role in being friends of Turkey in the United States.... We will champion to the best of our ability Turkish interests in the U.S. Congress. We will be Turkey's friends officially in Congress and work to help get favourable legislation passed."

Jacobs gives as an example the criticism that Jewish groups received following the placement of an ad in the New York Times and the International Herald Tribune to congratulate the Turkish Republic's 75th anniversary. Jacobs admits that many Jews who are members of his group questioned, "why are we supporting Turkey which has a terrible human rights record?"

In trying to minimise the failure of the Jewish groups to lift the ban on aid to Azerbaijan, he calls Section 907 "largely symbolic." He then contradicts himself by disclosing that because of Section 907, Israel's Overseas Development Program cannot send Israeli technicians to Azerbaijan, since the Program receives funds from the U.S. government.

Jacobs states that "it is unfair to single out Azerbaijan, a pro-western and pro-NATO country that has diplomatic relations with Israel." Jacobs says that Armenian forces with the backing of Russia, occupy 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory and have created 1 million in internally displaced persons. Therefore, he explained, "the organised American-Jewish community has come to the conclusion that it is wrong to further victimise Azerbaijan."

Ignoring the fact that Turkey has hired the best U.S. lobbying firms, Jacobs says that the Turkish lobby in the United States is "very small, unorganised and almost non-existent, while Turks in general failed to under-stand the modern lobbying process." His implied message is: "Ignorant and badly organised Turks desperately need Jewish help."

Jacobs also conveniently fails to mention that the entire U.S. government, including the White House, the State and Defence departments, has acted as a giant Turkish lobby for the past 50 years.

The US Supreme Court has held that the First Amendment permits Congress to make pure speech, human rights advocacy and peacemaking - a crime

The US Supreme Court has held that the First Amendment permits Congress to make pure speech, human rights advocacy and peacemaking, a crime - across the globe, like in Turkey.

Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court sentenced Independent MP Leyla Zana to ten years in prison for nine separate speeches she made in the years 2007-2008. Zana is accused of “committing crime on behalf of an illegal organization despite not being a member of it” and “making propaganda for an illegal organization”.

The trial against Zana has started again recently following the dismissal of the case by the Penal Department No. 9 of the Supreme Court.

If the conviction is approved by the Supreme Court of Appeals, Leyla Zana will not be taken to prison until she leaves Parliament. The next election is set for 2015.

She was awarded the Andrei Sakharov prize for human rights in 1995 and she has been also nominated to Nobel Peace Prize.

The elected Kurdish parliamentarian Zana had already spent her best 10 years in the Turkish prisons between 1994 and 2004.

The Centre for Constitutional Rights (CCR) notes that: “In June 2010, the United States Supreme Court rejected CCR’s challenge against the criminalisation of political speech and humanitarian aid in Holder v. Humanitarian Law Project.

"He played an important role in the mass executions that were carried out in the 1980s."

"He has once again turned that policy into the policy of the establishment.

Dec 13, 2011, Amnesty International says executions in Iran have skyrocketed this year, nearly tripling last year’s figures, reports the National Post’s Ian Vandaelle.
"I have never seen the court, but have been notified that I am on death row," said a man identified only as "Mohammad."
