The Group of Eight leading powers on Friday called on Iran to immediately put a halt to post-election violence. ’We want violence to stop immediately,’ Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini told a news conference. ’We are concerned about the aftermath of the Iranian presidential election,’ the foreign ministers from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United States said in their statement.
We fully respect the sovereignty of Iran. At the same time we deplore post-election violence which led to the loss of lives of Iranian civilians and urge Iran to respect fundamental human rights. The West has expressed alarm over Tehran’s crackdown on mass street protests, arrests of Opposition members and severe restrictions placed on the media following the contested vote.’The crisis should be settled soon through democratic dialogue and peaceful means,’ the G8 ministers said. Meeting in the northern Adriatic city of Trieste, the G8 called on the Iranian government to ’guarantee that the will of the Iranian people is reflected in the electoral process. French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner acknowledged that the joint declaration was a compromise between a tougher European stance and Russia’s more conciliatory stance.’It’s obvious that we were not in agreement on the situation in Iran,’ said Kouchner. ’We are united on the nuclear issue and that’s positive.’British Foreign Secretary David Miliband said ’there is unity here that it is up to the Iranian people to choose their government and it is for the Iranian government to protect their people. ’The United States is deeply troubled by the use of violence,’ said US Under Secretary of State William Burns. ’Such actions against peaceful demonstrators are profoundly unjust.’

On 23 June The International Campaign for Human Rights published lists of Iranian citizens it has confirmed killed and detained since the disputed 12 June presidential elections. The lists are not comprehensive and show the names of only some of the well-known detained citizens and only some of the dead. The lists name a total of 240 detained persons, including 29 who were detained and then released, as well as 102 political figures, 23 journalists, 79 university students, and 7 university faculty who are still in detention. The Government sources have referred to 170 people detained prior to 15 June, 457 detained persons on 20 June, and 27 dead. Other sources claim these numbers are much higher.

On 23 June The International Campaign for Human Rights published lists of Iranian citizens it has confirmed killed and detained since the disputed 12 June presidential elections. The lists are not comprehensive and show the names of only some of the well-known detained citizens and only some of the dead. The lists name a total of 240 detained persons, including 29 who were detained and then released, as well as 102 political figures, 23 journalists, 79 university students, and 7 university faculty who are still in detention. The Government sources have referred to 170 people detained prior to 15 June, 457 detained persons on 20 June, and 27 dead. Other sources claim these numbers are much higher.

Dr. Jalali a member of the university's scientific committee and served a total of 70 months in the fronts from the age of thirteen defending Iran against Saddam's invasion. He is also categorised as 70% wounded during the war. A hero of the war against Iraq who suffered Saddam's shrapnels now had to face the lashes of the Islamic Republic. The plaintiff against him was the Gorgan governor, Major Ja'far Gorzin, who never served in the fronts himself but has been promoted for his servile conduct towards the Islamic Republic authorities.
The "martyr Cultivating" (Shahid Parvar) IRI nation decided to bury the bodies of "Unknown Soldiers" who were killed some 20 years ago during the Iraq-Iran war in the Middle of Amir Kabir University Campus. Mothers protests
One of Ahmadinejad's henchmen on the back of a bike with a hand gun. The Iranian regime is attempting to disperse a gathering of people in Laleh Park. At around 19:30 local time, the Iranian regime’s plain-clothes agents, State Security Forces (SSF) and special units tried moved to disperse the protestors who were mourning the loss of their loved ones at the hands of the regime’s forces. The park itself has been surrounded by SSF, special units and other regime agents on motorbikes. In streets leading to Kargar Shomali Street, special units and SSF agents have been positioned and armed with various equipments to clamp down on protests. Inside the park, the regime’s forces (including bikers, plain-clothes agents and SSF) are patrolling the area, preventing anyone to stand in one spot. People with cell phones are searched and questioned by SSF and plain-clothes agents. SSF vehicles are parked at Keshavarz Boulevard at the Hejab intersection heading towards Kargar Street and Amirabad. Also parked at Keshavarz Boulevard are Volks Wagons of the mullahs’ Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), equipped with cameras and other equipment, meant to secretly monitor and film people.
Women, young and old, and youth are walking around the area. Heavy traffic has gripped Keshavarz Boulevard and Amirabad Street. Plain-clothes agents and special units have also been stationed in other parts of Tehran, including Enghelab Square, Ferdowsi Square, Haft-e Tir Square and Vali-e Asr Sqare. Many residents of Mashhad, particularly mothers of those killed in recent days, protested in Mellat Park. Agents of the State Security Force (SSF) and anti-riot forces clashed with the protestors near the park, Shahrbazi district and the local mosque. The gathering took place despite forces having blocked entry points to the park and sent hundreds of female members of the Revolutionary Guards to suppress the mothers of the martyrs.

Police taking names of incoming injured at hospitals. Some people were killed not only by one bullet as they found two or three bullets in some bodies, close to one another, showing that shooters used barrage shooting against people and not only a single shot. A 68 year old man had 3 bullets in his body, two on his left shoulder and one in the left side of his stomach. Doctors had been faced with 38 people killed during last week’s protests. Apparently, police took the corpse of the dead bodies out from the hospital and carried them away by truck. Most of their families still do not know if their children have been killed. Besides, among the corpse there were some 15, 16 years old kids.
The Iranan regime is arresting any injured people taken to hospitals which has resulted in many injured Iranians not receiving the medical aide they need.

Despite a heavy police presence in various parts of Tehran including in Enghelab, Karegar, Jamalzadeh and Vali-Asr streets and in the vicinity of Baharestan Square, people and forces clashed on Thursday. Helicopters belonging to the Revolutionary Guards were circling these areas. A group of Tehran youths protested chanting “Death to Khamenei”. Groups of Revolutionary Guards and paramilitary Bassijis, including those stationed at Daneshjoo Park, brutally attacked the protestors. People and forces clashed between Enghelab and Jamalzadeh streets. Hit and run clashes ensued in this region until 8:00pm local time. Ambulances arrived at the scene in Laleh Park at 8:45pm. They rounded up the injured and took them to centers under the control of the Revolutionary Guards.
The Guards have prevented ordinary people from assisting the injured.

I call upon the Australian government to stand up and complain bitterly until something is done”, said Justice John Dowd, Vice President of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), stressing his point that it is “to not speak up but yell” in order to save the Tamils in the concentration camps. Sceptical of United Nations and questioning why Commonwealth is aloof, the jurist mooted an idea for governments such as Australia to hold hearings against those who violated the Genocide Convention, warning what is happening in the island is ethnic cleansing of an ancient people in their homeland.
“We need to go to our parliamentarians to find out why things are not happening, why we are not pressuring the Sri Lankan government”, the jurist asked, urging everyone concerned: “pressure the UN agencies, the NGOs to get people in there as witnesses, the lawyers here will tell you, the most important witness in a civil case is the ambulance officer, the first person on the spot to find out what is happening. We want agencies in, we want governments in, we want the Red Cross in, so they can report what is happening and prevent the terrible things that are happening to these people”. “If you expose something, if you show something visual, then you get the chance of getting justice.”
“Remember, of the 300,000, something like 80,000 of them are children. They are not combatants. They are not criminals. Lot of them are under-nourished and a lot of them will fail, will die through illness if there is no proper protection. It is up to us, and the media, to let the government know that we want something done, we want some protection for the Tamil people and we want exposure of what is going on now”, he said lamenting that the world spent World War II in learning about such crimes, implemented treaties, but now breaches them.

Why can't they be released back to Jaffna? You get the lie told, oh we are looking for the minefields! Absolute rubbish! There are no reasons why these people from Jaffna, an area under military occupation can't be returned there, and to most of the other areas formerly controlled by the LTTE”, the Justice said.

Condemning the attitude of governments favouring another government, the jurist said that governments are the greatest invaders of human rights and the United Nations is not an organisation of nations but governments.
Citing China’s friendship to Sri Lanka and the attitude of Russia, Justice John Dowd said the Security Council is no longer a forum of assistance to Tamils and the Human Rights Council “is now effectively, totally, useless as a forum for defending persecuted minorities, but worse, it is now a rubberstamp for approving totalitarian regimes”.
Totalitarian regimes in the Human Rights Council use the misused word ‘sovereignty’ for their protection and thus the HRC is a disaster, he said. “The Commonwealth is not used as a vehicle it should be”, John Dowd said.

The body of Kianoosh Asa, a chemical engineering student of Science and Technology University of Tehran, was found 10 days after his abduction, bearing signs of torture. Kianoosh disappeared on June 15, 2009 from the university’s Majidieh dormitory. His family found his body in a morgue. The Iranian regime is refusing to hand over his body, claiming the body has been marked as unidentified since the person had no identity papers with him when he was found.

All had been shot in the neck and forehead, indicating that the State Security Forces targeted them from rooftops,” an eyewitness said. “Snipers targeted protestors,” he added.

On the twelfth day of the nationwide uprising in Iran, the people of Tehran poured into the city’s streets on a massive scale. Central Tehran was the scene of clashes between people on the one hand and the clerical regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the paramilitary Bassij force, special anti-riot force, plain-clothes agents, the State Security Forces (SSF) and agents from the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), on the other hand.

He was arrested near International University of Ghazvin and taken to a Bassij garrison were held.“People were held in semi-dark basement with their eyes closed and received daily ration of beatings with chains and batons,” he said. They would not let us sleep and did not feed us enough. We were under psychological pressure, the student added. “In their interrogations they wanted us to confess that our professors who were arrested earlier had talked us into participating in anti-government demonstrations."
Baharestan Square, facing the regime’s parliament, were reported to be packed by security forces today. Gun shots are heard and the situation at 20:45 local time is reported tense. Those who attack people are members of the Qods Force of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corps. This is the force responsible for terrorist operations in Iraq. They were heard to be speaking in Arabic to each other.
Military helicopters were reported hovering over the Vali-Asr street in Tehran Thursday afternoon. Clashes were reported in the street and people were shouting “Death to Khamenei.”
The suppressive forces are trying to push crowd back in Enqelab street but they are resisted. Bassij force is seen to be mobilized in Daneshjou Park to attack people demonstrating.
In protest to the killing of defenseless people, shopkeepers in Tabriz Bazaar kept their businesses closed since Wednesday. They refused to open their shops despite threats and pressures by the suppressive forces. The shopkeepers pledged to continue with their strike on Friday. An accurate number of killed, wounded or detained is not yet available due to severity of the repression. Regime’s authorities do not respond to public enquiries on missing individuals.

Amnesty International is calling on the government of Iran to stop using the Basij militia to police demonstrations with immediate effect. The call follows reports that the members of the militia have used excessive force against demonstrators and is made in the light of the history of abuses committted by this unaccountable branch of the security forces. The Basij militia is a volunteer paramilitary force of men and women under the control of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC). Its members are found in schools, universities, state and private institutions, factories, and even among tribes. Basij forces have frequently been accused of using extreme brutality.
Many of those who took part in the recent demonstrations claim non - uniformed and armed personnel, whom they believed to be members of the Basij militia, used excessive force and carried out human rights violations – including beatings and use of firearms - against demonstrators on the streets. A video of a member of the Basij shooting from an building used by the Basij during the demonstrations on Monday 15 June in which at least 8 people were killed should have triggered an immediate investigation by the authorities and clear instructions should have been issued to prevent further loss of life. Another video of a young woman identified as Neda, dying apparently from a chest wound, has been widely circulated amid claims of involvement of Basij members.
The response of the Iranian authorities has not been to open a proper investigation to clarify the circumstances of any death but rather to issue further warnings that protests will be handled in a ‘revolutionary manner’ by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the Basij militia and other police and security forces.
"Iranians wishing to peacefully express their opposition to recent events surrounding the election have no space to do so, as they are met with violence that has been legitimized by the highest authority in the land,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme. “It’s time for the Iranian authorities to allow peaceful protest and to remove the Basij from the streets. The policing of any demonstrations should be left to the police or other security forces which are properly trained and equipped."
Following the speech from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Friday demanding an end to the protests, there were further demonstrations on Saturday in Tehran and other cities and towns across the country. 13 people were killed according to the authorities and many more were injured. According to the government, over 400 people were arrested. Another demonstration of about 1,000 people in Tehran on Monday has been met with tear gas and arrests.
“Recent statements from the police, who denied opening fire on protestors, and from the Tehran Prosecutor-General, who blamed the killings on ‘armed terrorists’, look like an attempt to disassociate state organs from responsibility for violence,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui. “This is all the more reason to stop using the Basij as there is no way for the public to even identify them, let alone bring them to account for violations. If the Iranian authorities are not able to control such a militia, they should disband it. It is irresponsible to provide weapons and then to relinquish responsibility when abuses occur”.
Amnesty International calls on the Iranian authorities to investigate fully all reports of death, including possible extrajudicial executions, and to bring anyone found responsible to justice.

“Recent statements from the police, who denied opening fire on protestors, and from the Tehran Prosecutor-General, who blamed the killings on ‘armed terrorists’, look like an attempt to disassociate state organs from responsibility for violence,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui. “This is all the more reason to stop using the Basij as there is no way for the public to even identify them, let alone bring them to account for violations. If the Iranian authorities are not able to control such a militia, they should disband it. It is irresponsible to provide weapons and then to relinquish responsibility when abuses occur”.
Amnesty International calls on the Iranian authorities to investigate fully all reports of death, including possible extrajudicial executions, and to bring anyone found responsible to justice.

On July 13, 1989 one of the most tragic events in Kurdish history took place in Vienna, Austria. There are people's body laying on the streets; corpses everywhere. The situation is unbearable, inconceivable.
In several locations in Tehran, including around Ferdowsi Square, 16 Azar Street, Mofatteh Street, some of the Bassij agents were as young as 13 or 14. One of the residents said that the three martyrs in Tehran’s Salsabil district were all shot in the neck and forehead, which indicates that the State Security Forces (SSF) are positioned above buildings and rooftops. They target and shoot to kill those people they perceive as active and leading protesters. The witness said on Monday, three youths were killed after heavy clashes between people and plain-clothes agents and anti-riot police. In these protests, people were chanting loud slogans against Khamenei, and referred to him as the main culprit of the massacre in Tehran.
Forces are preventing people from crossing the road near the Hedayat Mosque on the Jomhouri-Zahiroleslam Junction near Baharestan Square in Tehran. They repeatedly attacked the protestors at the site with the aim of killing them. In one alleyway, security agents threw a woman in the middle of the road and savagely beat her. Angry people and protestors loudly cursed the agents. Some 500 agents of the Revolutionary Guards suddenly moved in from side roads and above a pedestrian bridge. They threw a number of people off the bridge.

The Iranian Kurds, who number about ten million, lost all faith in the regime after the merciless crushing of the uprising of 1968 and the murders of their General Secretary, Abdulrahman Ghassemlou in Vienna in 1989 and of Dr. Sadegh Shrafkandi in the restaurant Mykonos in Berlin in 1993. Kurds in their tens of thousands are thought to have been murdered at this time.
Likewise the 15 to 20 million Azeris, who are Shiites, are not recognized as an ethnic community with their own language, culture and history. In kindergarten, schools and universities the Azerbaijan language is not allowed.
In May 2006 Iranian paramilitary shot several hundred Azeri in demonstrations. Several thousand were arrested and tortured.
The number of Ahwazi, the Gulf Arabs in Khuzestan, is estimated at 4.5 million. Bitter poverty marks the daily life of this ethnic group. The Ahwazi are to the present day for the most part illiterate. The “Iranisation” of their region on the Persian Gulf is to be promoted by changing the population. This area has been declared a military closed zone.
The Baluchi, who number some 2.5 million, profess for the most part Sunni Islam. They suffer from ethnic and religious discrimination. Their economically backward settlements are systematically neglected.
All religious minorities in Iran, Sunnis and Zoroastrians, Jews , Assyrians, Armenians are oppressed or discriminated. The group suffering worst from persecution is that of the Baha’I, the largest religious minority numbering about 300,000. They are accused of blasphemy and severe violations of human rights such as arrest, torture and execution are the order of the day. Hate sermons, defamatory reports in the media, confiscation of property and the destruction of cemeteries and other holy sites have increased recently. Their leaders were arrested in the spring of 2008. These men and women are threatened with the death penalty.

The Iranian Kurds, who number about ten million, lost all faith in the regime after the merciless crushing of the uprising of 1968 and the murders of their General Secretary, Abdulrahman Ghassemlou in Vienna in 1989 and of Dr. Sadegh Shrafkandi in the restaurant Mykonos in Berlin in 1993. Kurds in their tens of thousands are thought to have been murdered at this time.
Likewise the 15 to 20 million Azeris, who are Shiites, are not recognized as an ethnic community with their own language, culture and history. In kindergarten, schools and universities the Azerbaijan language is not allowed.
In May 2006 Iranian paramilitary shot several hundred Azeri in demonstrations. Several thousand were arrested and tortured.
The number of Ahwazi, the Gulf Arabs in Khuzestan, is estimated at 4.5 million. Bitter poverty marks the daily life of this ethnic group. The Ahwazi are to the present day for the most part illiterate. The “Iranisation” of their region on the Persian Gulf is to be promoted by changing the population. This area has been declared a military closed zone.
The Baluchi, who number some 2.5 million, profess for the most part Sunni Islam. They suffer from ethnic and religious discrimination. Their economically backward settlements are systematically neglected.
All religious minorities in Iran, Sunnis and Zoroastrians, Jews , Assyrians, Armenians are oppressed or discriminated. The group suffering worst from persecution is that of the Baha’I, the largest religious minority numbering about 300,000. They are accused of blasphemy and severe violations of human rights such as arrest, torture and execution are the order of the day. Hate sermons, defamatory reports in the media, confiscation of property and the destruction of cemeteries and other holy sites have increased recently. Their leaders were arrested in the spring of 2008. These men and women are threatened with the death penalty.
If the support for Ahmadinejad should have increased among those being exposed to these crimes which have got worse during Ahmadinejad it can not be on voluntary bases! We find it very hard to believe support should have increased among those where violations and crimes have increased ..They are good at torment, torture and violate women, students, youths and the Iranian people, while they point their fingers at other directions..That they are! A young female student was killed yesterday after being struck in the head of a baton imported from Britain(?) by an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) agent in the city of Babolsar at around 22:00 local time. She was leaving the university in a bus. Also at the University of Babolsar, the university guards known as Herasat -affiliated with the mullahs’ Ministry of Intelligence and Security – MOIS have been given pictures of students under watch in order to arrest and hand them over to the MOIS. At least one female student was detained this way yesterday. In Mashhad, one of the female students protesting the beating of other students by the regime’s forces has been severely injured in her back after she herself was struck by these forces.
The scenes of the martyrdom of Neda Salehi Agha Soltani, a young woman who was gunned down on June 20th by agents of the regime, have gripped the world. One of her relatives said: “Neda’s goal was not Mr. Mir Hossein Mousavi or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Her goal was her country, and it was important to her to take a step in this path. ... Neda was never a supporter of either of these two groups. Neda was after freedom - freedom for all. As the world mourns Neda’s loss, the mullahs’ inhumane and misogynist regime has prevented a memorial to be held for her.
Women and girls have been active presence on all fronts, despite the vile actions of the Revolutionary Guards and suppressive forces and their barbaric raids on university dormitories, female students have shown an unprecedented level of resistance. Ms. Sarvnaz Chitsaz, chair of the Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, pointed out that many women and girls have been beaten, injured, arrested and taken to secret torture and detention centers in recent days. She said the international community’s silence and inaction towards these crimes is absolutely unacceptable. She reiterated this is the test of the international community toward the mullahs’ misogynist and medieval dictatorship. Iranian regime's news agencies reported a "huge explosion" near Khomeini's grave, in which the perpetrator lost his life. Following the explosion, the doors to the site were shut down and officials have told reporter to get official permission before reporting the incident.
The People's Mojahedin denied the absolutely false claim by the Iranian regime that they would be responsible and emphasized, "By attributing this bombing to the PMOI, the Iranian regime is intent on justifying execution and massacre of the Iranian people and provoking the re-listing of the PMOI as a terrorist group.
As the suppressive forces of the mullahs’ regime continue to murder people on the streets of Tehran, Saturday evening, the state-run news agency carried a false claim by the notorious Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) that several members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) “who had received training in Camp Ashraf in Iraq and had entered the country in order to carry out terrorist acts” had been arrested. This totally bogus claim was meant to justify the suppression and killings in Iran and put added pressure on the PMOI members residing in Camp Ashraf in Iraq. The state television, as always, paraded unidentified individuals confessing to such actions.
Previously, the regime has used the same disgusting tactic of ‘televised confessions’ to accuse the PMOI of involvement in setting fire to the holy Ka'ba in Mecca, killing three Christian priests, and setting off a bomb in the shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad. It also claimed that Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction were being hidden in the PMOI’s bases. However, the false nature of these claims were later proven. During the televised debates between the candidates of the sham presidential election on June 3rd, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad revealed that the Mecca affair had occurred in the summer of 1987 when Mir Hossein Mousavi was Prime Minister. Ahmadinejad said: “I don’t want to go into what was happened during Mr. Mousavi’s term and what they took through the airport and were arrested and what an ordeal became our country; but I will just say that our ties with them were severed. That is to say that during Mr. Mousavi’s term they acted in a manner that our ties with Saudi Arabia were severed.”
The Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), published an entirely fabricated and ridiculous report citing “a security official,” and claiming, “In view of reports about the presence of Mr. Hashemi Rafsanjani’s relatives in the protests of recent weeks, it was feared that the elements of the the PMOI would hurt them in order to accuse the system -regime and cause rifts and volatility. But, thanks to the vigilance of security forces, this plot was neutralized.”
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) said the lies are intended to prepare the groundwork for extensive suppression, killings and bloody internal purges. The PMOI’s added that the fabrications are an outcome of the regime’s fear of the nationwide uprising in Iran. This is not the first time that the religious fascism ruling Iran has spread fabricated stories against the PMOI, especially through the IRGC outlet (Fars), to prepare the stage for killing and repression of protesters.
The Fars news agency, affiliated to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), on Sunday falsely claimed: “During the disturbances last night in Tehran, a number of agents of the Monafeqin terrorist grouplet carrying an assortment of weapons were arrested. This group randomly fired on gatherings in various streets and on the State Security Forces. ... A mother and daughter who were relatives of an executed member of the Monafeqin were present. This terrorist group had in their possession MP5 firearms, handgun, grenades and Molotov cocktails”
The regime ridiculously speaks of a mother and daughter of a martyr of the PMOI when it is common knowledge that the regime has executed 120,000 political prisoners, some 90 percent of whom were members or supporters of the PMOI, and millions of Iranians are among their relatives or friends. The PMOI described the uprising by the enraged people of Iran against the religious, terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran as a reflection of the Iranian people's of the anti-human regime in its entirety. More than 90,000 Iranians took part in the largest-ever gathering of Iranians abroad near Paris, to declare their support for and solidarity with the Iranian people.

Iranian Nobel Peace laureate Shirin Ebadi asked EU officials in Brussels not to negotiate or hold meetings with Iranian leaders until the crackdown stops. In Rome, Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf held a news conference said that even if Ahmadinejad manages to govern for the next four years, "he will not have one day of quietness."
Following the remarks by the mullahs’ Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Friday, which linked the nationwide uprising by millions of Iranians to a plot by Western governments and the “global arrogance”, or US, the regime’s state-run press have continued to make such claims, and the US president has since called them as a stale tactic and ineffectual.
