Ma’an – Two families said narrowly escaped death when a Palestinian homemade projectile hit their apartments in Al-Farahin, east of Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip on Friday night. The official Palestinian news agency WAFA quoted the owner of the apartments, Ahmad Abu Duqqa, as saying, “The projectile drilled through the roof causing serious damage." "Only the heavens prevented a massacre," said Abu Duqqa, "as the projectile hit a bathroom next to my four grandchildren and their mother, who live with us after they fled their home because it is in the range of Israeli fire.” Palestinian fighters usually fire homemade rockets, often fashioned from metal tubing packed with explosives, into Israel, where they cause much panic but little damage.

A rocket fired from Lebanon landed near a house in the Western Galilee, lightly wounding three people. The Secretary of Fatah movement in Lebanon, Sultan Abu Al-Aynayn said Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) factions had nothing to do with these Katyushas labeling the attack an “unconsidered action.”He expressed opposition to what he called “improvised adventures".
We are not ready to discuss any action which does not gain Lebanese support,” he said. A member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) politburo, Ramiz Mustafa said that the PFLP had nothing to do with the two rockets.“We have allies in Lebanon, and we consult them, and take action only on what we agree on with them,” he said. He said the Palestinian factions were not responsible for the attack. “We take into consideration the sensitivity of the situation in Lebanon, and the Lebanese security must tell who stands behind such deeds as they are the only authorized side to tell that.” The Israeli military meanwhile said it "considers this a serious incident and believes it is the responsiblity of the Lebanese government and the army to prevent this rocket fire." Ma’an – Two Palestinian men were killed by an explosion in the town of Juhor Ad-Dik in the middle Gaza Strip on Saturday. The cause of the explosion near the Strip's eastern border is not known. The Director of Ambulance and Emergency Services in the Palestinian Health Ministry, Muawiya Hassanein, identified the victims as Hikmat and Ahmad Nassar, residents of the Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City. The two were reported to be members of the armed wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, but Hamas has not confirmed this.
Ma’an – Israel’s gas allowance into Gaza is “not sufficient,” according to experts surveyed at an open meeting organized by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights in Gaza on Friday. Mahmoud Al-Zahhar has reiterated Thursday Hamas's conditions for truce in the Gaza Strip, and for swapping prisoners with the Israeli government, stressing that the two files are separate. He also underlined that the file of swapping prisoners was absolutely separated from the file of the truce. He described Israel's attempts to mix the two files as "last minute dodging" that aims at blackmailing Hamas. "They are trying to circumvent the list of names of our prisoners that we had submitted to them and they are trying to delete and add some names on it, but the names that they are refusing to release are the core of the prisoners' swap deal" underscored Zahhar.

Japan to carry out water project in Halabja
In a statement to PUKmedia, the district commissioner of Halabja Fuad Hama Salih announced that Japan decided to carry out a strategic project for water in Halabja with an amount of 130 million US$. “The Japanese ambassador spoke on this project in his last visit to Sulaimaniya City. The project will take water from Sirwan River to Halabja District. The project also includes constructing pipe nets in the streets, as well as maintaining the old pipe nets”, Salih added.

Ma’an – Israeli police and soldiers uprooted more than 100 newly-planted olive trees from privately-owned Palestinian land in the West Bank village of Al-Jab’a, southwest of Bethlehem. According to witnesses, between 10am and noon on Thursday, Israeli personnel uprooted each of the young trees individually, along with plastic protective tubes and wooden stakes. The trees had been planted by a crew of American and European volunteers last Sunday with a program organized by the Joint Advocacy Initiative (JAI) of the YMCA of Palestine. A JAI campaign officer visited the land on Thursday, confirming to Ma’an that the trees had been uprooted and taken away. The land is owned by a farmer named Abu Firas, who has documents dating to the Ottoman era proving ownership of the land. After the planting session on Sunday, Israeli authorities declared the south of Jab’a, including the planted area, a “closed military zone.” The Israeli Civil Administration also, the same day, issued an order to “evacuate” or clear-cut the land. Abu Firas says he only found the printed evacuation notice on his land on Wednesday."Obviously, they don't want me to plant on my land, in order to steal it," Abu Firas said, according to a statement sent by JAI, complaining that he was not given the opportunity to challenge the order through legal means. He also fears that he will be forced to pay for the uprooting of his trees, as is mentioned in the evacuation notice. Abu Firas says that until 2005, the Israeli military used his land to park military vehicles. When the army stopped this, he resumed cultivating the land. Addressing a ceremony held in connection with distribution of relief goods and free medical camp for the affected people in Darwazgai-II Camp and Lakaro, Mohmand Rifles Commandant Col Saifullah said that no one would be allowed to impose their personal agenda on the people and make them hostage. He claimed that they had achieved the set objectives in the military operation and warned that those destroying government installations would be dealt with an iron hand. On the occasion, Lakaro Political Tehsildar Zabit Khan distributed relief goods among 2,500 affected families and 500 patients were provided free medical aid. It was learnt that the authorities would also arrange free medical camp for the affected people in Darwazgai.
