Syria arrests two Kurdish leaders

Syrian authorities have arrested two Kurdish leaders and charged one with a capital offence, as part of a campaign to crush political dissidents that has triggered international protests. The two men were arrested ahead of a visit by French President Nicolas Sarkozy to the Syrian capital on Wednesday. Sarkozy has been trying to convince President Bashar al-Assad to release leading political prisoners who have been campaigning for minority rights and a democratic constitution as an alternative to four decades of Baath Party rule.

Talal Mohammad of the banned Wifaq party was arrested without warrant in northeastern Syria last week and not heard from since, according to the National Organisation of Human Rights in Syria. Authorities earlier arrested Mashaal Tammo, an official in Future Movement, which like all opposition parties in Syria is banned. Future Movement advocates democracy and equal rights for Syria's one million Kurdish minority. The Kurdish language is not allowed to be taught in schools and tens of thousands of Kurds were denied citizenship after a 1960s census. Tammo had said before his arrest that Syrian policy toward the Kurds risked a repeat of riots that killed 30 people in Syria in 2004.

The riots started in a Kurdish region. Tammo was charged on August 27 with committing aggression and arming Syrians to start civil war, an accusation that carries the death penalty and is rarely directed against well-known political activists. Other charges regularly used against dissidents were also levelled at Tammo, including belonging to an organisation that aims to change the basis of society and causing racial and sectarian tension. Denies charges Tammo has denied the charges and human rights lawyer Mohannad al-Hassani said it would require a great deal of evidence to prove that Tammo, who renounces violence, had wanted to start civil war. "The authorities cannot resort to such fearsome charges just because they disagree with someone's opinions," he said. The U.S. State Department denounced Tammo's arrest, saying he was held incommunicado for 15 days before he was charged. "We condemn the detention of Tammo and other Syrian prisoners of conscience and call for their immediate release," State Department spokesman Robert Wood said in a statement. "We encourage the international community to join us in calling on the Syrian government to stop its policy of arresting critics of the regime and to comply with its obligations under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights." Syria, which has been controlled by the Baath Party since it took power in a 1963 coup and imposed emergency law, has thousands of political prisoners, human rights lawyers say. Assad said during a visit to Paris last month authorities only arrest those suspected of violating the constitution and that criticism of his rule was permitted.

A security court handed several PKK members long sentences in 2006 in trials branded illegitimate by international human rights groups. "What is this? You armed us and now you imprison us," one defendant shouted at the judges before he was sentenced to seven years in jail.

Hunger strike by Kurdish political prisoners in Iran

NCRI – Local shopkeepers refused to open until 11 a.m. on Saturday supporting the hunger strike by the Kurdish political prisoners in the northwestern city of Mahabad. The State Security forces (SSF) – mullahs' suppressive regime—and local agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) attacked the shopkeepers and citizens in the streets to force them to open their businesses. Local residents flocked outside city's court. Plain-clothes security agents were taking photos and films of demonstrators.

Kurdish political prisoners have gone on hunger strike nationwide over prison conditions, said a statement marking the start of the protest on August 25. "There are 40 prisoners in the northwestern city of Orumieh, 15 in the northwestern city of Mahabad, 13 in the western city of Sanandaj and eight in Tehran's notorious Evin prison," said the statement not locating the four remaining prisoners. The statement calls on the "world conscience" to act on behalf of political prisoners under the worsening conditions in the mullahs' jails.

Eight Kurdish journalists and political prisoners are on death row, according to the statement. The Kurdish prisoners called for "an immediate stay of execution sentences for political prisoners and an end to all forms of torture and degrading punishments."The strikers also demanded that prisons throughout the country come under an international monitoring committee.

The mullahs' inhuman regime holds political prisoners in Evin prison ward 209 run by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). In addition, Gohardasht prison, 40 kilometers west of Tehran, is another facility with an unknown number of political prisoners constantly living in grave conditions.

Earlier this month the city was brewing when the mullahs' local officials refused to give in to the local residents' demand to free Farzad Kamangar – a teacher and a political prisoner from jail. The SSF agents stopped the marchers and forced them to go back to Sanandaj riding on police buses. The Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) arrested Kamangar in Tehran in July 2006 and held him in various detention centers in Kurdistan, Kermanshah, and Tehran. During a period of detention in Ward 209 of the notorious Evin Prison -- run by the MOIS -- in August 2006, officials tortured him to such an extent that they had to transfer him to the prison clinic to receive medical attention. He was severely tortured and was subject to ill-treatment while in detention in the cities of Sanandaj in Kurdistan province and Kermanshah. The mullahs' Supreme Court upheld an earlier death sentence by a lower court for three Kurdish political activists Farzad Kamangar, Ali Heidarian and Farhad Vakili on Friday. The three were first arrested in April 2006 and tried in the lower court in February 2007.

Anger mounts in Afghanistan

Yeah..Britain where there and had their war in 1878 and it seems like it has continued ever since. Afghanistan which were a beautiful country with a lot of treasures and hospitality is more and more becoming a ruin desert with echos of death.

And just as the Kurds the Pashtuns were divided and used.

We guess Russias concerns for minorities is just bullshit..

At 1:00 pm, a group of the Pasdars (the Iranian Revolutionary Guard) arrived at the village of Qarna. At first it looks as if they found that the village was evacuated and everybody flee to toward the mountains or went hidding. Then Guards started to search the houses one by one. Some of the villagers who were found were killed right in front of their houses. The others were shot or beheaded in the mosque. Then they dragged the dead bodies by their trucks and vehicles to the town of Naqadeh to exhibit them to the population. Some of victims were children, disabled and old people, who did not constitute any immediate threat to the army and they were not armed.

They beheaded even the only clergy in the village. This Happened on Sept 2nd 1980 in a Kurdish village, 12 Kilometer far from Naqadeh in Iran. This massacre has not heard outside Iran and hardly known inside Iran, only known by the local people. These Islamic Guards have never been charged for their crimes in Qarna. On the contrary, they received a prize for serving the country and were promoted. These kind of crimes continue since back then in different ways. Now there are 8 civil rights activists, journalists and teachers who are on the death row for crimes of being Mohareb (fighters against God). Their lives are in danger. According to the recent news, Kurdish political prisoners in Iran, since Monday 25 August 2008, began an indefinite hunger strike to protest those sentences and grave human rights violation in Iranian Kurdistan.

The following eight Kurdish journalists and civil rights activists have been condemned to death in Iran:

1. Adnan Hassanpour, journalist, also the award-winning journalist who has been condemned to death. Adnan was awarded a media award in Italy by the Information, Safety & Freedom Association, death penalty

2. Hiva Botimar, civil rights activist and journalist, death penalty

3. Farzad Kamangar, civil rights and human rights activist, death penalty

4. Anvar Hossein Panahi, teacher and civil rights activist, death penalty

5. Farhad Vakili, civil rights activist, death penalty

6. Ali Hardarian, civil rights activist, death penalty

7. Arsalan Olyaei, civil rights activist, death penalty

8. Habib Latifi, student, civil rights activist, death penalty

While another seven have been sentenced to up to 11 years for their civil rights activities. Mohammad Sadigh Kaboudvand, human rights activist is sentenced to 11 years. Hana Abdi, women rights activist is sentenced to 5 years. Zainab Bayazidi, women rights activist is sentenced to 4 years. Fatemeh Goftari, women rights activist is sentenced to 19 months. Amir Reza Ardalan, student is sentenced to 1 year. Ali Shakeri, student, is sentenced to two and half years. Sohrab Jalali, civil rights activist, in spending his charge and deportation to Kashmar.

The prisoners’ hunger strikers aim to increase the awareness of the Iranian and international public opinion to "protest against the death sentences given to Kurdish representatives and to denounce continuing human rights violations in prisons and outside prisons. If the world was not unaware of what happened to Qarna; now with the help of media there is no excuse for not being informed of what is going on in Iran. We shouldn’t be silent anymore. We need to save lives in Iran. This is our responsibility to notify the international community. We urge you to help them and to stop these executions. We will get-together at 13:00 h, on Aug 29th in front of international criminal court in The Hague in order to protest against the death penalty of these 8 journalists and asking the ICC to prosecute the Iranian crime against Kurds victims.

Murder attempt against a Kurdish journalist leaves his sister dead in hail of gunfire. Reporters Without Borders today voiced deep shock and sadness at the death of the sister of journalist, Sadeq Jaafar Bashir, sub-editor on the Kurdish monthly review Araa, who was gunned down in a murder attempt against him at his home in Baghdad. “Sadeq Jaafar Bashir is the latest victim in the spiral of violence which has targeted journalists in Iraq for more than five years”, the worldwide press freedom organisation said.

Syria’s first opposition television station has gone off the air after only nine days. New Syria TV –the first attempt by the Syrian opposition to launch a television station – began broadcasting on August 17 but stopped being transmitted on the evening of August 26. The channel, broadcast via satellite from Brussels, is backed by the opposition National Salvation Front, which is led by former Syrian vice-president Abdel Halim Khaddam, a powerful opposition figure who split from the regime in 2005.Bashar Elsbei, the head of New Syria TV’s Washington office, said that while the problem might have been caused by a technical glitch, the National Salvation Front suspects the Syrian authorities were responsible for the blackout.

Military intelligence services have ordered Syrian Kurdish writer and prominent rights activist Mashaal al-Tammu to stand trial, Syria's Human Rights Observatory reported. It quoted human rights campaigners saying they saw al-Tammu entering a Damascus courthouse on Tuesday. He had not been seen since he vanished on 15 August after leaving the northern Syrian city of Kubani, bound for Damascus. Although Al-Tammu's car was found close to the armed forces' headquarters in the city of Aleppo, Syrian security services denied claims by human rights groups that they were involved in his disappearance. Human rights lawyers are currently evaluating the situation and trying to determine if al-Tammu has been ordered to stand trial before a civilian or a military court. Tammu, 50, is the official spokesman for the Kurdish Future opposition movement. Freedom of expression remains tightly controlled in Syria, and security forces have sweeping powers of arrest and detention. A total 1,500 people were arrested for political reasons in 2007 and hundreds more who were arrested in previous years remained in detention, according to rights group Amnesty International's 2008 report.

And when we "already at it"..

IDF says mentally-disabled man tried to grab gun from soldier after brother's arrest; Palestinians say 2 rubber bullets hit him in the head.

We should expect from IDF to be able how to handle a mentally disabled person without shooting. Shouldn´t we..

Criminals....

Human Rights Watch said on Monday that Georgia has admitted to dropping cluster bombs in its military offensive to assert control over the restive province of South Ossetia. The human rights group said it received an official letter from Georgia's Defense Ministry that acknowledges use of the M85 cluster munition near the Roki tunnel that connects South Ossetia with Russia. Human Rights Watch's arms division researcher Bonnie Docherty told reporters in Geneva on Monday that Russia undoubtedly used cluster munition in several places during the conflict. This, despite Russia's continued denials.

You should have brought the issue up with attacks from South Ossetia on Georgian villages in a civilized manner! Shouldn´t you..

So...

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia's decision to send troops to Georgia has set a new standard for defending its national interests and the United States must learn to live with it, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Monday.

So..It´s all about Russia then..You be warned because we know exactly what have happen after Syria's, Turkey´s and the psychopathic Iranian regime which Russia "supports", and which threatens people all over the region and having their "wars" THE WHOLE F***** TIME all over the region and beyond, in their orchestrated efforts to target Kurds which they have a ethnically cleansing of and destabilize Iraq and how Syria´s peace overtures leads to more rockets and arming Hezbollah and Russia being occupied about it´s presence in Syria instead of busy in the Quartet!

Kiddo!

Iran is mobilizing Palestinian-Suiciders in Gaza in an effort to sabotage the cease-fire between Hamas and Israel, the London-based Arabic daily Al-Quds al-Arabi claimed in a report on Friday. Hours after the report appeared, a spokesman for suiciders- al-Quds Brigades in Gaza, Abu Anas, warned on Saturday evening that the truce's end was nearing.

It´s a ethnically cleansing with Pashtuns being forced to leave their land because of idiots listening to a f***** phone!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiPv9rX2DIY&feature=related

This is not about Islam. It´s a collective-suicide-genocide!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlZrVNJ88D8

And there is NO WAY any ones will deny the Pashtuns to return to their land for a f***** pipe line now!

IDIOTS! Pashtuns can be one of the tribes of Israel! Bin Laden and psychopaths started a "student-movement" with people that can be one of the tribes of Israel which went up to Aria land from Babylon and Persia, to make them commit a collective-suicide-genocide with justifications it´s about Islam and fighting Israel!

Now when Ish-bosheth, Saul's son, heard that Abner had died in Hebron, he lost courage, and all Israel was disturbed. Saul's son had two men who were commanders of bands: the name of the one was Baanah and the name of the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, of the sons of Benjamin for Beeroth is also considered part of Benjamin,

And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have been aliens there until this day.

Now Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son crippled in his feet He was five years old when the report of Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up and fled And it happened that in her hurry to flee, he fell and became lame And his name was Mephibosheth. So the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Rechab and Baanah, departed and came to the house of Ish-bosheth in the heat of the day while he was taking his midday rest. They came to the middle of the house as if to get wheat, and they struck him in the belly; and Rechab and Baanah his brother escaped. Now when they came into the house, as he was lying on his bed in his bedroom, they struck him and killed him and beheaded him. And they took his head and traveled by way of the Arabah all night. Then they brought the head of Ish-bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king, "Behold, the head of Ish-bosheth the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life; thus the LORD has given my lord the king vengeance this day on Saul and his descendants." David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, and said to them, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my life from all distress, when one told me, saying, 'Behold, Saul is dead,' and thought he was bringing good news, I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, which was the reward I gave him for his news. "How much more, when wicked men have killed a righteous man in his own house on his bed, shall I not now require his blood from your hand and destroy you from the earth?" Then David commanded the young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet and hung them up beside the pool in Hebron But they took the head of Ish-bosheth and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.

Sounds familiar?

GHA!

Well..Life is holy, this whole planet is holy!

It's a joke. It isn't a matter of holy or unholy. All months are holy. If they want to end fighting, it should be permanent," Muslim Khan, Taliban spokesman in the Swat Valley, said of the government announcement of the temporary halt in military operations."We want enforcement of Sharia laws and will continue our struggle. We haven't got instructions from our top leadership to stop fighting. If they do (order a halt) then we certainly will," he said by telephone.

According to government estimates, up to 300,000 people have fled from fierce clashes between security forces and violent militants in the tribal region of Bajaur on the Afghan border. Many displaced people have moved to temporary shelters set up in various towns outside the region, where despite government and foreign aid agencies' efforts, shortages of food and medical supplies and poor sanitation are common complaints. Washington says al Qaeda and Taliban militants have been given shelter by Pakistani allies in ethnic Pashtun tribal lands on the Afghan border and from there not only carry out attacks on both sides of the border but plot violence in the West.

First..The "Talibans" are Pashtuns and they are not given shelter by other Pashtuns they have taken it. There are no al-Qaida there, they are ALL pashtuns which have to leave their land because of some stupid idiots listening to a f***** phone! There is no f***** collective-Suicide-genocide on your own people left! How come others can live with Sharia laws without having "wars" directed from a phone, mass slaughter of their own people and their whole population to leave their land? VA?

This IS the Pashtunland and people are being mass slaughtered and have to leave! 300.000 Pashtuns have fled! Get it?

!

Bethlehem – Palestinian minister of tourism and antiquities Khuloud D'eibis visited the 5,500 year old olive tree in the village of Al-Walaja near Bethlehem in the southern West Bank. The tree, dated to 3,500 BC by Japanese experts, is 20 meters in diameter, and is believed by locals to have been the tree of it Ahmad Al-Badawi, who legend holds was an ancient holy man. If the dating for the tree is accurate, it was planted in the Neolithic period, when Homo sapiens began to farm land and settle into towns and villages. The tree may have been among the first cultivated by modern human beings. The tree is located in the southern mounts of Jerusalem, which have been threatened to be confiscated by the Israeli military for the construction of settlements.

During the construction of the Israeli separation wall, dozens of ancient trees which date back to the time of Christ have been uprooted and died. After huge efforts by local Palestinians, Israeli authorities agreed that the trees could be replanted, but in other areas. Several of the trees were sent to the Church of the Nativity and are on display for tourists.

Just as Kirkuk..

There are already Turkemen, Arabs and Kurds living there..And they are getting along just fine..So what´s the problem?
